Putting Our Hoosier Values First
Republican Scott Baldwin is a US Marine, a former police officer, a successful business owner, father, outdoorsman, and supporter of Veterans and law enforcement.
Keeping Taxes Low
Scott believes in keeping taxes low, so people keep more of their own money to help keep up with higher costs of living. He helped deliver the largest tax cut in Indiana’s history, which has provided billions in tax relief by cutting utility taxes, providing property tax relief, and cutting income taxes, making Indiana’s income tax one of the lowest in the country.
Protecting Our Schools
Scott has fought to ensure Hamilton County schools receive their fair share of state education funding. He has provided record education funding for local schools, including teacher pay raises and money to modernize and make schools safer.
He has also been an advocate for local parents and students. Scott voted to give parents a greater voice at school board meetings, supports literacy programs to help students read at their grade-level, and supports increasing transparency and accountability at schools, so parents are better informed about their children’s education.
Dedicated Military Service
As a decorated U.S. Marine veteran, who served our country in Iraq and Afghanistan, Scott knows how precious our security, rights, and freedom are, and he’ll fight to protect them for all of us.
Scott is also a lifetime member of the American Legion, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and is dedicated to helping military Veterans and their families. He started a program that helps increase awareness on the challenges faced by Veterans battling PTSD and the alarming issue of suicide in the Veteran community. Scott is so passionate about Veterans suicide that he championed a not-for-profit called Darkhorse Expeditions and is its largest donor.
Law Enforcement and Mental Health
Scott is a retired Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Supervisor with two Medals of Bravery and a Medal of Valor. As a former police officer, Metropolitan Drug Task Force Supervisor, and Homicide Supervising Detective with over a decade of law enforcement experience, Scott has supported giving law enforcement the resources they need to do their jobs and crack down on violent crimes to make our communities and families safer from crime, gun violence, and drugs. In addition, Scott has helped to provide more mental health and addiction services.
